In July this year, Prague officially opened the Štvanice footbridge connecting the Holešovice and Karlín banks with the Štvanice island. The structure, which boasts a number of unique architectural and technological features and solutions, has been selected by experts for the prestigious Building of the Year 2023 award among 38 nominees. In addition, the footbridge is also seeking to win the public vote category, which is open to anyone until 23 November 2023.
A total of 38 nominations for the Building of the Year 2023 award and 2 nominations for the Foreign Building of the Year 2023 award were presented this week at the nomination evening in the Transport Hall of the National Technical Museum in Prague. Eight of the best new buildings shortlisted by an expert jury are located in the capital city.
This year, a record 110 buildings from all regions of the Czech Republic were entered in the Building of the Year competition. The main organizer of the Building of the Year 2023 competition is the Foundation for the Development of Architecture and Construction, together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians in Construction, and the Association of Construction Entrepreneurs in the Czech Republic.
