Prague’s Old Town Hall opens renovated ground floor and new tourist facilities.

9/5/2023

Prague together with its own Prague City Tourism company opened a newly refurbished lower part of the Old Town Hall and a new tourist service hub. It includes a tourist information center, Guides&Tours services, and the first brick-and-mortar shop with sophisticated souvenirs produced exclusively for Prague City Tourism by local craftsmen.  The new tourist services hub represents another step towards an overall refinement of tourism in the capital in keeping with the city’s tourism concept.

A stone passageway connecting the Old Town Square with the Nicholas Lane has also been newly opened to Prague citizens and visitors. The refurbishment cost the city CZK 40 million.

The Old Town Hall has been undergoing a revitalization process in recent years. After the tower and the ground floor, the city is going to focus its renovation efforts in the coming years on the building’s Romanesque-Gothic underground, which is older than the Town Hall itself.

In addition to the new tourist information center and the opening of the passage, visitors can visit a brand new souvenir shop.
