More land to Prague's hands

Prague City Hall has won an auction for plots of land in the Žižkov district. These include attractive plots in a developed part of the city, creating a single functional space with access from a public road. Acquiring land in central Prague by the city administration being quite complicated these days due to a limited offer and high prices, this represents another success of the Property Management Department.

“We have managed to get hold of and save a plot of land that the city's zoning plan describes as a “leisure area” in accordance with the nature of the place. This is a strategic area from the perspective of the Prague 3 district and the quality of life of Žižkov inhabitants,”says Jan Chabr, a member of the Prague City Council.

“The auction marks another success of our property management strategy that we have introduced recently. In addition, we managed to buy the land in the auction for a very favorable price as compared to the market value. Prague has had difficulties acquiring land because the owners used to have a large room to speculate and would increase the price disproportionately as compared to expert evaluation, or would refuse to sell at all, offering a lease agreement instead. That is why we have been lately exploring other ways to acquire property, such as auctions,”says Ing. Jan Rak, Head of the Property Management Department.

The auction for registered parcels of land No. 4229/1 and 4229/9, both categorized as “other-purpose area” and located in Žižkov cadastral district in Prague, was held by a bailiff office in Brno.
