The steel bridge over river Vltava, which connects Smíchov with Vyšehrad, has served not only for railway traffic but also for pedestrians and cyclists for many years. New lamps with LED technology now illuminate their path. The bridge has also been fitted with new electric cabling as the original one was in an unsatisfactory condition. The project was carried out by the city’s own Prague Technology Company (THMP).
THMP has fitted the entire length of the railway bridge with new LED-based luminaires. The change can be observed from a distance. “The lamps are no longer ambient but focused on the footpaths on both sides of the bridge. This has also reduced light pollution. “The light is now more pleasant to the eye, it does not dazzle pedestrians or boats, and the new technology is also more power-efficient,” says City Councilor Jan Chabr.
