City of Prague is planning to continue refurbishing Vltava river quays. Jan Chabr, a member of the Prague City Council responsible for municipal asset management, would like to provide greater support to public events that would attract families with children in summer and winter alike. For instance, on Saturday, February 2, the traditional farmers’ market reopened on the Rašínovo Nábřeží quay. Jan Chabr said the market was exactly the type of event more of which he would like Prague to support.
“Refurbishment of the river quays is going to continue this year, which is definitely good news. Prague quays should serve primarily the public and people should not be strolling along vacant riverbanks. I am going to push more intensively for Prague to support various events, such as farmers’ markets and food trucks,” says Prague Councillor Jan Chabr. “We will not only bring more life to the city centre but also offer Prague citizens another opportunity to spend their time in an enjoyable space on Vltava river banks,” adds the Councillor.
The regular Quay Farmers’ Market has been taking place for ten years, offering not only fresh farming produce but also other attractions, such as an opportunity to roast a sausage over the fire. “I would also like to highlight the organizers’ commitment to environmental protection. Returnable cups and discounts for those who bring their own trays are all ways to improvement we have been trying to achieve on the quays,” concludes Councillor Chabr.
