On December 1, 2021, the results of the international urban design competition for Prague’s Florence location were announced at the Center for Architecture and Urban Planning (CAMP). The winner is a joint team set up by architectural studios UNIT architects, A69 - architects and MARKO & PLACEMAKERS. The new design of the long-neglected area combines complex transport infrastructure with new streets, squares, and residential buildings. When selecting the winner, the international jury also considered the opinion of general public who had an opportunity to comment on the final proposals.
Three final shortlisted designs were revealed at an exhibition at the Center for Architecture and Urban Planning. The jury took comments from the public into consideration when selecting the winning design. The jury comprised world-class architects, including Winy Maas, the founder of MVRDV; and famous Dutch urban planner Kees Christiaanse, whose KCAP studio was involved in designing the renowned HafenCity district in Hamburg. All three proposals will be displayed at CAMP until 5 December 2021.
