Prague City Council has nodded to a request by Prague 9 district and agreed to acquire assets currently owned by the Czech Post Office and subsequently transfer ownership of the assets to Prague 9. The assets in question include a post office building, other structures, and an adjacent plot of land. In the future, the premises could serve as sports and leisure facilities for children from the neighboring primary school U Elektry, which is in construction.
The assets are located on fenced plot of land between Poděbradská and Sousedíkova streets in Prague 9. The western side neighbors on private properties, the eastern side is adjacent to a plot of land where the local council is building the new primary school. By acquiring the assets, Prague 9 would have a generous room for further expansion of the school facilities in Prague’s fastest growing residential area.
The acquisition having been approved by the City Council, Prague 9 will proceed to negotiate specific terms of the transaction and handover.
“I would like to thank City Councilor Jan Chabr for approving the purchase of the assets. The most rapidly expanding residential area along Poděbradská street will now have sufficient capacities as regards primary education. The existing school grounds will be expanded by appending the neighboring plot of land to create room for sports and leisure activities,” adds Prague 9 Mayor Tomáš Portlík.
