Prague is going to remove approximately 1,400 pieces of street furniture that carries advertisements. The furniture is scattered around the city. The removal will happen at the expense of the former lessee, AD-Net, which has failed to clear the rented spaces despite a valid termination of the contract and a court verdict in this respect. This is another step in Prague City Hall’s plan to do away with visual pollution in the streets of Prague and refine the public space.
“Prague will remove as many as 50 ad-carrying benches throughout the city today. The first to disappear have been those installed at Budějovická station in Olbrachtova street in Prague 4 district. The removal of some 1,400 pieces of street furniture follows a lengthy litigation with the former lessee of a number of city-owned plots of land,” says City Councilor Jan Chabr who is responsible for the municipal asset management agenda. Prague continues with clearing ugly spots that have long spoiled its face.
