A 650-hectare industrial area spanning parts of Malešice and Hostivař districts is the largest industrial zone in Prague, hosting much of the city’s technical facilities. However, there have been discussions about multiple housing projects in the area which have not been coordinated in any way and whose implementation could pose undesirable restrictions on the technical facilities. That is why the Prague City Council tasked the Prague Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) with producing a comprehensive analysis of the needs of industrial zones in Prague, which will be applied in Malešice as a pilot.
